Domingos de Sousa & Filhos, S.A., a family business working in the textile industry located in Gandarela, Guimarães, started its activity in 1961, with a production almost entirely handmade, having the national and former colony clients as its main markets.

Since 1974, the production evolved into the manufacture of terry towels. As a consequence of good results, the company made a number of investment projects, seeking to move towards vertical integration in order to better control the manufacturing process in all its phases.

In 1995, DS initiated several technological and productive improvement projects, including the restructuring and rationalization of all its equipment, the implementation of a quality management system and the installation of a cogeneration plant to produce energy.

Nowadays, as the result of a continuous and sustained investment policy, the company has followed a proactive strategy that allows it to be adapted to the environment of the industry in which it operates.
